Barbara T. Scott was
elected Clerk of the Circuit Court in 1984.

She is a Florida State
Supreme Court certified Clerk of the Circuit Court and maintains
certification through continuing education, seminars, and training.

She also holds
accreditation from the International Association of Court Reporters,
Elected Officials, and Treasurers.

Barbara is a fellow of
the Institute for Court Management.

She is a two-time
recipient of the “Clerk of the Year” award from the Florida
Association of Court Clerks & Comptroller (FACC).

She has been
instrumental in bringing about vital changes in county and statewide
governments.

Currently serves as
President of the FACC Executive Board. She sits on the Strategic
Planning, Education, and Insurance committees.

Barbara also serves on
the Court Technology Committee and the Committee on Privacy and
Court Records as appointed by the Florida Supreme Court.

She has served on the
Electronic Filing and Trial Court Subcommittees.

Liaison to the Clerk
of Court Operations Conference mandated by the Legislature to
implement the measures of the amendment to Article V of the
Constitution of the State of Florida.

Created legislation
changing the Constitution related to branch
office recordation of official records.

Chairs the nationally
mandated state program, whose efforts resulted in the creation of a
$30million State Disbursement Unit for the collection and
disbursement of child support payments. This program provides that
thousands of children receive the support they deserve. It is
estimated that $1.3 billion will be collected yearly through this
system across the state.

Under her Clerkship,
Charlotte County attained, for the first time in 1986, the
“Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting”
award from the Government Finance Officers Association; and has
continued to achieve the honor for 25 consecutive years.

A high level of
involvement in local charities and organizations gives her a
personal understanding of the needs of the community.
