When people think of a Justice
Center, they often only see it as only a place where trials are
held -- nothing more.
But the Charlotte County Justice Center and the
Clerk of the Circuit Court, Barbara
T. Scott, offer so much more. Between the two, residents can
get a marriage license
(or even get married, if that's their wish), get a passport, read
the tax rolls, read property deeds, examine county commission
minutes, get official documents and even read archived documents
on microfilm. In fact, as a public trustee, the Clerk of the
Circuit Court is required to carry out numerous
functions.
The Charlotte County Justice Center (in the
photo above) is located in downtown Punta Gorda, and the Clerk's
