"Best Access to Court Records" The
Sixth National Court Technology Conference of
The
National Center for State Courts announced on September 15,
1999 at the CTC6 Conference in Los Angeles, that Barbara T.
Scott's Charlotte County Clerk of Courts web site (http://www.co.charlotte.fl.us)
was selected as the national winner of the fifty one entries
submitted for the "Best
Access to Court Records" award.
The Sixth National Court
Technology Conference (CTC6) was held September 14-16, 1999, at
the Los Angeles Convention Center. More than 3,000 court
& technology professionals attended the conference for the
biggest and best court technology conference ever, that featured
dynamic keynotes addressing whats next in the electronic age.
Present at the conference was an international faculty covering
new advances and best practices in electronic filing, e-commerce,
courtroom technologies, integrated justice information systems,
and data security.
This year's conference included advanced courses for IT
administrators and directors. Laurel Jimenez, CAS Director
attended an educational session on "The World of Courtroom
Technology". While, Ron Mayberry sat in on a discussion
panel on "Extensible Markup Language (XML) for Courts".
More than 125 leading Court
Technology vendors offered a full range of products and services
for users to check out and compare. Here is a list of
the some the products that the CAS team took a look at:

Transcription
- Electronic Filing
- Imaging/Document Management
- Office Automation
- System Development/Integration
- Video Services
- Voice Response Systems
The highlight of the conference
was on Thursday, when Barbara T. Scott and the CAS Team, (which
included Laurel Jimenez, Bob Mannino, Roger Eaton, and Ron
Mayberry) gave a demonstration of the Clerk's Web Enabled Imaging
System in front of some of the most knowledgeable Court MIS
Administrators, College Professors, and experienced Judges ever
assembled. Later that day once the demonstration was
completed, the Charlotte County Clerk of the Circuit Court's Web
Site was awarded with "Best Access to Court Records"
from the The National Center for State Courts.
