The Clerk of the Circuit Court has the
responsibility for collection and distribution of all fines,
forfeitures and court costs assessed by the court. |

Traffic
- The amount of fine is noted on
the citation and/or envelope, and may be mailed if appearance is
not mandatory.
- For those that would like to use the school option, to
withhold the points for the citation, should follow the
instructions on the blue affidavit provided to you by the officer
or call our office.
- Traffic Violation Bureaus are
located at the Charlotte County Justice Center, and at the Murdock Administration Complex. Fines and costs
may be paid at all locations.
- Court dates may be arranged for
those that claim not guilty to the alleged charge.
- Payments made using VISA or MASTERCARD must be made in person
in the Punta Gorda Annex,
and are accepted for non-criminal infractions only.

Criminal Traffic
- The fines for these citations
are assessed by a judge and require a mandatory appearance.
- If you wish to plea to the
alleged charge, you may do so at your arraignment date which will
be noted at the bottom of your citation.
- If you plea "Not Guilty", a
trial date will be set.

Misdemeanors
- These are criminal offenses
which are investigated by the Law Enforcement Agencies and State
Attorney's Office.
- They are violations of the
Florida State Statutes and County Ordinances.
- Court dates are assigned at the
time of arrest or service of summons by the Law Enforcement
Agencies.
- If you plea "Not Guilty", a
trial date will be set.
