The Clerk's Office will now be able to
access electronic signatures stored on file as images on the Court
Automation System. The CAS has the ability to electronically sign
multiple forms without the need to copy, sign and rescan an original
document.
The CAS has full word processing
facilities which allow for user (WYSIWYG) definition and computer
generation of case documents. CAS also comes equipped with a
skeleton of most court forms, including the letter heading for the
County or Judicial District. An extensive database of standard
paragraphs and clauses enables the automatic preparation of an
infinite variety of court documents pertaining to every aspect of
the criminal justice process.
Some of the features of the
Electronic Signature System and Forms Generation include: |
|
Electronic
Signature Features In order to
add signatures to documents the CAS has a proprietary encoding feature that
allows a document to be printed, signed, re-scanned and automatically stored
with the original file. This eliminates the requirement to print, sign and
manually store case documents to paper file folders. |
|
Forms Generation Features
The forms management facilities in
the CAS virtually eliminates the need for pre-printed forms within
the criminal justice process and results in a substantial cost
savings.
The forms and reporting module,
like all other modules of the CAS, is table driven. This means
that as new reports or forms are defined, they can be added to the
reporting module with a simple table entry made by the user.
All systems forms are designed in
a WYSIWYG environment and are completely user definable and
maintainable. |

Automatic
Reporting System Reports forms
such as Subpoenas, Court Appearance Notices and Notices to Appear can be
generated at initial input or case initiation. These reports can be saved as
file images attached to the case docket. Other examples of report forms include:
Bench Warrants, Arraignment Notices, Conditions of Probation, Ord/First
Appearance Notice, Order Bond Reduced, etc. |
