Six million women are
beaten in the United States each year; as many as 4,000
will die.
Thousands of Florida
women are beaten each year; an equal number of abusive men
suffer the guilt, fear and depression that comes from
abusive behavior.
Sixty to ninety percent
of abusive men were themselves abused or observed abuse as
children.
Violence in families
passes from generation to generation. Children whether
physically abused themselves, or witnesses to the abuse of
their mothers, are also victims of domestic violence.
